Conspiracy theories are like cheap ramen noodles. Easy to make, lacking substance, and quickly forgotten.
Earlier today, an Amtrak train carrying Republican members of Congress to a retreat at the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia hit a dump truck that was on the tracks for an unknown reason.
The truck driver was killed, a passenger severely injured, and several GOPers suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident.
NOW: Amtrak train collides with garbage truck in Crozet. Nurse on scene reports at least one fatality and at least one in critical condition. NBC29 is on scene and will bring you more details as we get them. pic.twitter.com/eU0uYL0JQx
Normally, this kind of thing would be the domain of local news. However, the Republican party has been hijacked by a gang of conspiracy theorists who see the Obama/Clinton Deep State at work every time they stub their toe or the grocery store runs out of their favorite cereal.
If you took Monday to sleep off a nasty flu bug, you could be forgiven for waking up Tuesday thinking you were either in a Central American banana republic or the Terran Empire of the Star Trek mirror universe.
In just one day, we learned that the Trump administration pushed out the number two man at the FBI, that Trump wouldn’t be implementing the Russia sanctions that passed Congress by a vote of 518-5, and that the House Intelligence committee voted to release the infamous Devin Nunes memo, the four page tome that’s supposedly going to blow the doors off the Obama/Hillary/FBI Deep State surveillance of Trump, and send all the evildoers to Gitmo.
BREAKING: The House Judiciary Committee, run by the GOP has just denied Democrats from reading the classified info that the Nunes Memo is allegedly based upon. They also are denying the Democrats rebuttal to the memo from being released. The House is officially a Banana Republic.
If you want an alternate view of the Robert Mueller investigation into President Trump and Russia, just spend a few minutes taking in right wing infotainment.
It’s a fantasy land of non-stop TV, radio, and internet catastrophy where Trump is the victim of a vast conspiracy involving the liberal media, globalist financiers, Obama-era holdovers in the brutally corrupt Justice Department and FBI, and a Special Counsel hopelessly compromised by conflicts of interest.
These notes were smuggled out of last year’s Annual Meeting of the FBI Secret Society, a shadowy organization acknowledged by disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok and confirmed by an informant to Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, as told to Fox News.
Ron Johnson tells us his “secret society” comments were based on an informant and the words used in a Strzok-Page text exchange. He acknowledges not knowing what they meant – and says the focus now on his committee is the Clinton email scandal.
If you’ve spent time on Twitter in the last 24 hours (and if you haven’t, congratulations), you’ve likely seen an odd hashtag blowing up political and Trump-supporter feeds: #ReleaseTheMemo.
Our country is about to be shaken to the core.
The release of this classified info will make Watergate look like peanuts. No wonder the Democrats freaked out over Trump's win. We were NEVER meant to see & hear the truth that would have been buried with Hillary!#ReleaseTheMemo
The democrats are lucky Republicans are honorable people. If we played the game like they do the memo would be all over CNN and everywhere else by now. Maybe it’s time we stoop to their level? #releasethememo
Like virtually everything related to the Republican role in investigating Donald Trump’s ties to Russia, it’s a mix of bad faith, conspiracy theorizing, memes, blaming the Clintons and Obama, and Russian bots. So many Russian bots.
